The Seahawks were one of the biggest surprise teams last season, improving from a solidly mediocre record of 7-9 the past two seasons to an superb 11-5 record (2nd in NFC West) last year, while making the playoffs as a Wild Card team. The ‘Hawks went undefeated at home in 2012 and were 30 seconds away from upsetting the Falcons and advancing to NFC Championship game. QB Russell Wilson had a fantastic rookie season, throwing for 3,118 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 Interceptions with a 64.1% passing completion. He won the starting QB job in the pre-season, beating out both Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson. Defensively, the ‘Hawks had one of the top three Ds last season, but lost Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley, who took the head coaching job in Jacksonville.

Seahawks’ Off-Season Moves:

Key Additions: Percy Harvin, (WR, via trade from Vikings), Antoine Winfield, (CB, Free Agent)

Key Departures: None (!)

Biggest Question Heading into the season:
Can Russell Wilson take that next step and lead the Seahawks to the promised land of the Super Bowl? How will the defense play with the departure of Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley?

Big E’s Final Thoughts and Predictions:
There are a lot of lofty expectations for the Seahawks heading into the 2013 season. They are the #1 ranked team in both the ESPN and NFL.com power rankings, and are one of the NFL’s favorites to not only reach the Super Bowl, but to win it all. I agree.

Big E’s Seahawks’ Prediction:
12-4 (First in NFC West): The Seahawks will win the stacked NFCWild Wild” West, beating out the San Francisco 49ers by one game or even based on tie-breaker variables.
