The New York “Football” Jets. What else is there to say about this outhouse-of-a-franchise? They made some minor changes, like bringing in a new General Manager in John Idzik Jr. That’s all fine and dandy, but most Jets fans would have liked a new head coach as well. Unfortunately, the Jets lost a lot more than they gained in the off-season.
The team’s best player, DB Darrelle Revis, was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a first-round pick in the 2013 draft and a 2014 conditional pick. The J-E-T-S didn’t sign any big name free agent, however they did draft another QB in Geno Smith to complete with former franchise flop, Mark Sanchez. The move to draft Geno Smith was split among Jets fans, but some just don’t give a “flying fart” anymore because they were simply tired of the Jets’ QB-roullette every other year or so.
Jets’ Off-Season Moves:
Key Additions: Geno Smith, (QB, Drafted), Chris Ivory, (RB, Traded from the New Orleans Saints), Braylon Edwards, (WR, Free Agent).
Key Departures: Darrelle Revis, (Traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Dustin Keller, (TE, Signed with Miami Dolphins), Bart Scott, (LB, Released), Tim Tebow, (QB, Released; Signed with New England Patriots), Eric Smith, (FS, Released), Yeremiah Bell, (S, Released; Signed with Arizona Cardinals).
Biggest Question:
Will rookie QB Geno Smith take the job away from Mark Sanchez? Will Smith start the entire season or will Rex change QBs every week, continuing to drive Jets Nation crazy and fueling their desire to have his hide?
Big E’s Final Thoughts and Jets Prediction:
There’s nothing much to say about this team; it’s the same old story with the Jets: they have no leadership in the locker room, the fans are sick of the coach and this is the league’s most over-hyped, over-valued, over-rated team. I feel bad for Jets fans, I’m a diehard Eagles fan, and it took years to finally get us a new head coach, so I feel your pain J-E-T-S fans. Hang in there, just hang in there. Trust me, I know. Perhaps you will get your wish at mid-season and blowhard Rex Ryan will be coaching the Bayonne Jets in New Jersey’s Pop Warner League.
Big E’s Jets Prediction:
3-13 (Last in AFC East). Geno Smith or Mark Sanchez are not the future for the Jets. They should scrap this current QB fiasco and draft either Teddy Bridgewater or Johnny “Football” Manziel (if he declares his eligibility). With the likelihood of a new head coach next year, that new coach would likely want a QB whom he evaluated and drafted to fit his offensive philosophy. Sanchez and Smith? They ain’t it.
